Playstreet is a vibrant landscape architecture studio based in Hobart. We create landscapes which encourage community well-being through high quality contemporary design practice.
Playstreet is at the forefront of landscape architecture that focuses on young people and their communities. In additional to an extensive list of school and nature based play projects, Playstreet has designed and delivered some of Tasmania’s largest and most prominent landscape architecture and playspace projects including River Bend Parkland, Launceston; Cataract Gorge Playspace; Kangaroo Bay Parklands, Bellerive; and Bridgewater Parkland. Playstreet is currently working on the Kingston Park Master Plan and playspace design, a project of national importance located in Kingborough, Tasmania.
Playstreet started in March 2013 when Carl Turk and Miriam Shevland set up a landscape architecture practice on the top floor office of a lovely Hobart Georgian building at 32 Murray St. Focussing initially on the design of nature-based playgrounds for both schools and Councils as well as a selection of residential projects, Playstreet steadily built up a portfolio of work and loyal clients. Six years later the company has grown to 5 staff and now manages a range of projects, from residentials, wineries and school play spaces to large scale tourism master plans and parkland developments.
Our focus has always been to deliver a bespoke, beautifully considered landscape solution specific to each place. We take great pride in our work and are constantly striving for innovation and unique responses to place. As a result, we have a very loyal client base and enjoy a great collegial working relationship with a number of different professions.
