Peacock Centre

The Peacock Centre is a mental health facility in North Hobart, Tasmania. Originally the residence of prominent businessman W.D Peacock (1847-1921), Ruardean was bequeathed to the State for the creation of a hospital, and operated in various capacities until it was severely damaged during an arson attack in 2016.

The new landscape balances the requirements of a busy public service with the original heritage character, creating spaces for quiet reflection, garden therapy, and peaceful outlooks from internal spaces.
